Mirdo Importations, a family run business founded in 1975 by Mardik, nicknamed Mirdo and his son Carlo Zozikyan. They saw a business opportunity seeing the passionate hobby of Mardik’s nephew and current co-owner, Nurhan Papucciyan. It all started with a set up of 50 aquariums for tropical fish and 20 terrariums for reptiles in a basement located in Brossard. After a year in business, it seemed that there was a potential demand in this industry of live foods for reptiles, aquatic plants and rodents. They decided to move to a commercial warehouse located on Notre-Dame West in Montreal with 1,600 square feet to supply a large selection of live stock. In 1983, Mirdo was relocated to a bigger warehouse nearby of 4,000 square feet while adding a bird department and doubling holding capacities of all live stock.
Mirdo is now operating with roughly 25,000 square feet, 35 employees and 8 delivery trucks with routes going to the regions of Toronto, London, Kingston, Ottawa, Laurentians, Trois-Rivières, Quebec City, Sherbrooke, Montreal and even up to Halifax as well as also shipping by air or ground throughout Canada and internationally.
With over 1,000 aquariums, Mirdo specializes in freshwater and saltwater fish and also offers transhipping from various places such as Singapore, Bangkok & Indonesia. Being one of the biggest breeders of reptiles in Canada, we have a great selection of captive bred and imported reptiles. We also have a large selection of rodents, small animals such as Marshall Ferrets, birds, feeder insects and more. To complement our live stock, we offer various lines of dry stock such as Zoo Med Laboratories, Marshall Pet Products, Hikari, Seachem Laboratories, Oase BiOrb & Indoor Aquatics, Repashy and many more.
